Mark has undergone surgery and is now hopefully in recovery. I thought I'd send him this 'Get well soon card' from all of us here on Newsvine. You may remember that when I went through a rough time recently this wonderful person was there for me 24/7.

Hi, I meant to catch up with the posts this evening and try to thank you all for the fantastic support I have received from this wonderful community. I got through reading what I could then things got a little fuzzy. (Don't you just love morphine)

Some of the shocking comments I have read today regarding the Moslem peoples of the world have encouraged me to write a little about my own experiences travelling through places where, inevitably, I was bound to meet different people who worship in different ways, before differen …

I promised to write an article soon and I will write a more general one in time, but I need to write this down. I have been at the hospital all day today having consultations and tests. Over the past ten or so weeks, since my first surgery, I have been thoroughly dis-satisfied wi …

Sometimes it takes just one image to change the course of history. Nik Ut did it in '72 when he took that picture of Phan Thi Kim Phuc as she ran away from her village which had been napalmed.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, had it coming. That of course is just the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's view, but in hindsight it is probably correct if you are a Russian President tasked with restoring the pride and power of a broken empire. Russia needed this cri …

I've waited and waited for somebody to make this important distinction regarding the upheaval here on Newsvine over past few months but it appears that I'll just have to jump in and make it myself. I don't usually get involved in this crap but right now it's running so deep that …

An excerpt from some of my writings on my personal web-space; it seemed to fit the feelings of despair permeating Newsvine at this moment in time.

Thinking beyond the seemingly trivial incidents of overblown political correctness which take up yards of column space these days, I have found myself gradually able to see beyond the farcical nature of a lot of these stories. Picture the world of Star Trek's 24th century.

I know I have been conspicuous only by my absence lately here on Newsvine, but I have, on occasion, browsed through the posts and I have been pleased to see some names that have not been around for a while getting back into posting, like OldFogey (Thanks for the message, it's app …

Some have said that it is a little unfortunate that Barack Obama chose a rallying cry that was so familiar to tiny tots on the British side of the Atlantic. I can just see thousands of tots screaming out the the reply to the question; "Can we Build it?" "Yes we can!"

This article may upset some people. Please do not take it literally. In deference to the offers of support I received the first time I posted this fictional account of self harm on the net, I state here and now that this is Fiction.

At last! Spring is here, temperatures jumped from just 10c (50F) last evening to 22c (72f) today. The sun has been shining bright all day and I finally got to turn off the heating boiler. I even got a chance to get my Nikon out into the garden and take some pictures. Enjoy.

Eddie - Your presence on the Vine frequently reminds me of a few things that I used to ponder as a child. That hope is something that resides in each and every one of us. Hope, not just for today. But for tomorrow and way beyond. Scientists may tell us that the sun will likely burn up in a few billion years from now. Which means there's always time for tea. Cuppa?
You are always in my prayers.

Eddie has proved to be a true friend. Besides, he uses some of the best graphics for his articles. If he could play a washtub bass I think I would get my harmonica and go start a band with him. Thanks Eddie for being there when you are needed.
