A fast-moving wildfire has destroyed dozens of homes in the hills above Malibu, the scene of last month's devastating fires in California.

The latest blaze is said to have spread through the canyons and hills above the resort, forcing 15,000 residents to flee.

Fire officials confirmed several homes were destroyed but could not give an exact number.

However, no injuries were reported.
